My name is Bronte Elisabeth Wilkes and I am a mixed media artist from Western Australia. I create my artworks with the use of acrylic paint, watercolours, pen, oil pastel, chalks, marker, stamps and threads. Through colour and pattern, I aim to inspire delight and excitement in viewers.
The name of my art practice ‘Bristle and Blue Gum’ has two symbolic meanings. ‘Bristle’ refers to the tools I use to create my paintings. ‘Blue Gum’ is one of my favourite acrylic colours and a pigment that features predominantly in my artwork.
Being creative is one of my favourite hobbies. If I don’t have a paintbrush in my hand, I’ll have a camera, knitting needles or fabric instead. I am a big lover of animals and the outdoors and I am forever drawing inspiration from the flora around me.
