Schools on the Art Trail

In 2021, the ‘Schools on the Trail’ project was launched to compliment the Southern Art and Craft Trail. All schools in our Art Trail catchment have the opportunity to display their students’ visual arts in non-commercial displays through partnerships with retail and business outlets, community centres and other venues. These displays are available to view for the duration of the Art Trail.

Participating schools have found great value in the project, with their art displays looking fantastic and students proudly visiting these venues with family and friends.

Apart from offering a great school promotion, the Schools on the Art Trail project also offers a new experience for many students to display their artworks in non-school connected venues.

As the project has grown, interest has also increased amongst our Southern Art and Craft Trail visitors and artists, with many seeking out these displays via the Schools on the Art Trail page in the Art Trail booklet. Here, schools and their display venues are coded alongside all other Art Trail open studios, galleries, and the like.

The project has also resulted in increased foot traffic to the main streets and retail precincts of our Art Trail towns.

By early March, all southern regional schools are invited to participate. Our ASWA team then maintain liaison with the participating schools to ensure their displays, alongside all the other Art Trail artists, are in readiness for the start of the Art Trail.
