Originally from UK, Abigail has long been a frustrated artist – told in school that she had no talent. Retiring from full-time work (first teaching, then farming) finally gave her the opportunity to study Art, initially at TAFE and then through Open University, and to prove that teacher wrong.
Abigail is now busily developing her belated artistic career, primarily as a painter in watercolours and oils. Living with Albany’s beautiful bio-diversity inspired Abigail to combine her lifelong passions, Nature and Art, into a singular and effective working whole which is steadily gaining her recognition. She has refined her artistic practice into two associated streams… working in pencil, watercolour and pastels for her detailed botanical and wildlife studies, and in oils for larger ‘statement’ pieces.
Focusing on the inhabitants and habitat of her home range around Albany, she explores current environmental issues. Being deeply concerned with highlighting the plight of our increasingly rare and endangered flora and fauna, her work aims to engage and to provoke viewers into taking action to ensure a sustainable, ecologically balanced future.
Currently working with Albany Art Group (Chair) and Phoenix Fine Arts, Abigail exhibits regularly with both groups. Her artwork is available through her Lower King studio – during her regular Open Studio’s, or by appointment – and online, through her website. Commissions can easily be arranged.
