Established in the 1980s, in the heart of Menang Noongar country in the southern part of Western Australia, Albany Aboriginal Corporation stands as a vibrant testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Menang Noongar people. Nestled within the Mt Melville precinct of Albany, this centre, fondly known as “The Noongar Centre”, serves as a beacon of indigenous creativity and community empowerment.
The Noongar Centre has become a cornerstone of economic independence for Menang Noongar artists and their community. With a legacy spanning decades, it remains pivitol in preserving and celebrating Menang Noongar traditions.
The Noongar Centre serves as a cultural hub, showcasing selected works from several local artists alongside multimedia presentations and conversations that offer a profound insight into Menang Noongar cultural identity. Additionally, cultural tours and performances provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the rich tapestry of Menang Noongar traditions.
