My name is Bronte Elisabeth Wilkes and I am a mixed media artist living in Mount Barker, Western Australia. I create my artworks with the use of acrylic paint, pen, posca marker, oil pastel and chalks. My art practice – Bristle and Blue Gum – was established in 2019 and I currently paint and exhibit part time as a hobbyist.
There are two symbolic meanings to the name Bristle and Blue Gum. ‘Bristle’ refers to the tools I use to create my artworks. ‘Blue Gum’ is one of my favourite acrylic colours and a pigment that features predominantly in my artwork.
The outdoors acts as an important influence in my work. I am constantly inspired and excited to create after a walk through the bush with my dog.
Through a combination of mediums, I enjoy constructing colourful pieces that nurture happiness and delight in viewers. Being immersed in both paint and nature is a real wonder for me.
