Although I’ve always loved art and tried my hand at a variety of different arts and crafts, I’ve only been an artist the last two and a half years.
I love working in pastels (pan pastels, soft pastels and pastel pencils) but sometimes I use mixed media with the occasional acrylic painting thrown in the mix.
Nature, with all its wonderful patterns, colours, textures and endless variety is what inspires me. I’m so grateful to God for creating such a mind blowing world for us to live in. His design and creativity leave my soul in awe and my fingers twitching to try and recreate.
It all started to fall in place for me after doing a Blooms Painting course with Jacqueline Coates. She taught me the basics and suddenly I knew what makes a painting work. She also helped me to overcome self doubt and criticism. Helen Komene introduced me to pastels at Albany Summer School and I fell in love with the medium.
Being an artist makes my soul sing. I create because I need to. It gives me endless joy and fulfillment.
