Cynthia Orr; a multi versatile artist whose paintings mimic the seasons of landscape and life. Constantly attuned to the emotion of experience and the desire to be ‘in the moment’, she moves effortlessly between abstract and realism.
Working predominantly with oils and acrylics, Orr’s distinctive style and use of colour, pushes the boundaries of her medium with the combination of traditional and modern techniques. Her ultimate aim is to deliver something unique; evoking nostalgia and ardour to her increasing audience and collectors.
A self-taught artist, Cynthia’s preoccupation with painting started in her formative years at the family kitchen table in Melbourne, Victoria. Now on the coastal town of Albany WA, she works from her homebased studio as a full-time professional artist.
Teaching painting workshops since 2009, privately and for organisations such as the Vancouver Arts Centre WA, The Museum of Albany WA and many local Primary and High Schools, Corr Art’s skills are well sought after. Cynthia has overseen the production, organisation and implementation of numerous local community and student art exhibitions.
Orr’s most recent achievements have seen her win the 2022 Glover Prize ‘Hanger’s Choice’ award, finalist for the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize and chosen for the public art commission at Albany Health Campus Radiation and Oncology Centre WA.
Cynthia sells her work through exhibitions and shows, Gallery 360 Perth, Blush Retail Gallery Albany and Aura Gallery Kojonup, also through her website, Instagram and Facebook.
