Gorenang Moortabiin Aboriginal Corporation presents Baranga Maditjil — a powerful celebration of Noongar culture, creativity, and cultural continuity through contemporary Aboriginal art. Meaning “Totem Magic” in Noongar language, Baranga Maditjil is more than an exhibition or creative initiative; it is a living expression of identity, resilience, storytelling, and connection to Boodja (Country).
Developed in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, Baranga Maditjil creates culturally safe and empowering spaces for Aboriginal artists to share their stories, strengthen cultural knowledge, and engage in meaningful creative practice. The initiative supports both emerging and established artists, with works spanning painting, mixed media, cultural design, and contemporary interpretations grounded in traditional knowledge systems.
Each artwork carries layers of story, kinship, memory, and belonging — reflecting the lived experiences of Aboriginal people while honouring the enduring strength of culture across generations. The collection juxtaposes traditional cultural symbolism with modern artistic expression, creating works that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
